Reconstitution
Last updated
Mixing a lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptide with bacteriostatic water so it dissolves into a liquid you can measure and inject. How much water you add sets the concentration.
In practice the water is added slowly, aimed at the vial wall rather than blasted onto the powder, and the vial is swirled instead of shaken to avoid foaming a delicate peptide. Once liquid, the solution is measured in insulin units on the syringe. The volume of water chosen is the single lever that sets concentration, so entering it accurately in a calculator is what makes the resulting unit count correct.
