Sharps container

Last updated

A puncture-resistant container for safely disposing of used needles and syringes, rather than putting them in regular trash.

A rigid detergent or laundry jug with a screw cap is a common household stand-in when a purpose-made container is not on hand, and needles should never be recapped by hand before disposal. Many pharmacies and municipalities run take-back programs for full containers. Planning for disposal is part of the same routine as aseptic technique and site rotation, all aimed at keeping the practice around reconstituted vials safe.
