Secretagogue

Last updated

A substance that prompts the body to secrete something. Growth-hormone secretagogues (like GHRPs) trigger the body’s own growth hormone release rather than supplying hormone directly.

The distinction matters because a secretagogue relies on the body's own supply rather than adding hormone from outside, so effects are shaped by the individual's existing capacity to produce it. This is often cited as a reason the pulsatile, self-limited pattern of release is preserved. Whichever secretagogue is used, the reconstitution and unit math is unchanged; concentration still equals vial milligrams divided by water added.
