Anabolic
Last updated
Describes processes that build tissue, such as muscle-protein synthesis. Several peptides are discussed in an anabolic context, though “anabolic” here does not mean an anabolic steroid.
The key point of confusion is terminology: describing a peptide's effects as anabolic refers to tissue-building signaling, not to the anabolic-androgenic steroids that share the word. Peptides discussed this way generally act upstream, for example by influencing growth-hormone or IGF-1 pathways rather than binding androgen receptors. The distinction matters for anyone reading marketing copy that blurs the two.
